Armenia is a mountainous country in the South Caucasus. The population is around 3 million people, 1 million out of which live in the capital city, Yerevan.
The currency is the Armenian dram. The state language is Armenian, however, most Armenians speak at least one foreign language as well as the mother tongue. Many people in Armenia are fluent in Russian, younger generations also speak good English, and the large number of Armenians repatriated from the Diaspora only adds to the multilingual environment you can overhear in the country.
Armenia is considered a monoethnic state, as around 98% of the citizens are ethnic Armenians. However, the number of international students in the country is growing, and each year more and more entrepreneurs, IT specialists, and art people are settling in Armenia.
As for religion, around 95% of the population is Christian. This should not come as a surprise: Armenia was the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as the state religion back in 301.
The climate in Armenia is very diverse due to significant differences in elevation. The most common features are snowy and rather cold winters and sunny, very hot summers. This allows us to put together tourist routes in any season.
Armenia is in the GMT+4 time zone all year round.
